I like using Recovery Derm Shield tattoo bandages because they create a barrier around your tattoo protecting it from germs, dirt, bacteria and abrasion.
It is best to leave them on for at least 2-3 days.
I also have non-adhesive bandages available for anyone allergic to adhesives.
After you take off your bandages make sure gently wash your new tattoo with unscented antibacterial soap before applying a thin layer of aftercare ointment.
For aftercare I highly recommend using
Hustle Butter. Made with all natural ingredients. Apply to skin to heal and moisturize daily after. Many clients continue to use Hustle Butter long after their tattoo has healed to keep their skin moisturized and healthy, and to keep their tattoo’s colors bright. Also good for dry & irritated skin, rashes & chaffing.
Swimming or sitting in water will raise the risk of infection. I highly recommend that you do not go swimming within the first 3 to 4 weeks after getting your new tattoo.
Prolonged exposer to sunlight puts yourself at risk for sunburn, blistering, pealing, and skin infections. Having a tattoo significantly raises those risk even higher.
Make sunblock a priority, SPF 30 or higher.
Or avoid it all together and keep your tattooed covered & out of direct sunlight.
The best thing you can do for your new tattoo is talking with a professional.
